Winter Wine Guide

A Great Go-To

When in doubt, a great winter style is a pinot noir. With it's light/medium body and red fruits, it's a wine that often pairs fantastically with any number of meals you may find yourself whipping up this season!

Store suggestion: August Hill Winery Chambourcin "A smooth and timeless dry, red table wine made from Illinois-grown Chambourcin grapes. This medium-bodied wine is similar in style to a light pinot noir with its upfront fruit character and aromas and flavors of blueberry and dark cinnamon."

Charcuterie Pairing

If your table is instead filled with delicious charcuterie bites, lean into a medium/full bodied red wine. This will round out the pairing of a lighter snack and a heavier, bolder wine.

Store suggestion: August Hill Winery Ginocchio "Ginocchio XIII is our thirteenth vintage of this wine. This wine is made from a premium blend of Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Frontenac grapes. Aged in oak barrels, this medium-bodied dry wine has notes of raspberry, black pepper, cherry, vanilla, cedar and plum."

Bring on the Bubbles

New Years Eve may have passed, but that doesn't mean 2022 isn't worth celebrating a little more. Bring on the bubbles all month long. Winter is a great time to play with celebratory wines and the sweet treats we're all still indulging after the holidays.

Store suggestion: August Hill Winery Mardi Gras "Mardi Gras! Celebration! We have taken one of our most popular wines, Sweet Catawba, and added bubbles. This sweet, bubbly wine is sure to bring out the fun all year long."
